Hornsea extends a warm welcome to French Firefighters
On Friday 9th of September a team of French Firefighters arrived in Hornsea after a 500mile Cycle ride to raise money for a charity called ODP.
The charity supports children of firefighters who die in service in France. The town of Hornsea excelled in welcoming them. After the initial greeting they had some time to relax and settle into their home for the weekend before a slap up supper.
During the course of the weekend they were welcomed by various businesses and associations. At all events we were collecting for the charity and the people of Hornsea gathered over 400 Euros.
I am very proud to live in a town where people behave in such a friendly way to visitors. I would particularly like to thank Knights of Hornsea, Hornsea Fire Crew, The Hornsea Peloton, The Stackhouse, Hornsea Museum, The Mere, The Sailing Club, The Scouts, Hornsea Leisure Centre and Hornsea Inshore Rescue as well as all the other offers of hospitality that the firemen couldn’t fit in.
They have asked the cycling club and fire crew to try a return visit to Bouaye in the future. So watch this space!
